Attendance Law

We will be following the Attendance Law
starting January 7, 2020

Arizona Revised Statute 15-803B (state law) requires students to be in school AT LEAST 90% OF THE REQUIRED SCHOOL DAYS. For our district this means students can only miss a total of 14 days per school year. Excused and unexcused absences count toward the 14 days. For our high school students this means they can only miss 7 school days per semester. If their absences exceed this number then they will lose semester credit and will need to make up the entire semester. Please review this information with your child as not following this law will cause students to not be promoted and not graduate.

Please read the Arizona Revised Statute below.

Arizona Revised Statute 15-803. School attendance

A. It is unlawful for any child who is between six and sixteen years of age to fail to attend school during the hours school is in session;

B. A child who is habitually truant or who has excessive absences may be adjudicated an incorrigible child as defined in section 8-201.  Absences may be considered excessive when the number of absent days exceeds ten percent of the number of required attendance days prescribed.
